PLANO, Texas (Oct. 21, 2022) – The Lexus ES continues to offer guests bountiful choices to fit their personalized interests, passions and lifestyles for the 2023 model year. As the top-selling sedan in the brand’s lineup, the Lexus ES returns for 2023 with the Lexus Interface multimedia system, a redesigned center console and new trim and material options. The ES family is also expanding this year with the introduction of F SPORT Design and Handling, complete with styling and performance upgrades making for an exhilarating grade. In addition to further improving quietness and ride comfort, we pursued linearity in vehicle movement, in response to steering wheel operation, that is faithful to the driver’s intentions,” says Lexus International Chief Engineer Tetsuya Aoki.

ValueDespite all their attractive qualities, luxury cars, in general, have an unenviable reputation for losing their value. The Lexus ES steers away from that rut by being relatively affordable in the first place and retaining its worth over the years better than any competitor. Once again, 215 horsepower is not especially impressive, and there are no official combined torque figures. Electric motors invariably provide a kick when accelerating away from a standstill, though.
ES 350 Ultra Luxury
In the United States, Lexus vehicles are sold through 244 dealers offering a full lineup of luxury vehicles. Lexus also offers eight F SPORT models, one F SPORT Performance model and one F model. For buyers looking for additional performance, ES 350 F SPORT will offer an all-new Dynamic Handling Package (DHP) that includes Sport+ and Custom Drive modes, Intuitive Parking Assist, and Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS). The AVS system on ES 350 F SPORT with DHP is capable of 650 levels of adjustment to deliver optimal ride quality and precise control. Adjustments are based on information from sensors that measure both linear and vertical g loads, vehicle speed, steering angle, yaw rate and master cylinder pressure in addition to information from the engine control computer and skid control computer.
Model
The seventh-generation ES built on the GA-K platform allowed for a more dynamic exterior design and the introduction of the first-ever ES F SPORT. Since its introduction, it has attracted a younger and more diverse buyer interested in race-inspired styling and F SPORT control honed on the track. For 2022, the ES F SPORT will offer luxury sedan enthusiasts more choice with a revised grade strategy that separates style and performance enhancements. The ES 250 AWD and ES 350 will continue to be offered in F SPORT trim, and 2022 adds a new ES 300h F SPORT grade. Premium packageIn many instances, it’s a good idea to skip the base vehicle and look at the next one up. Based on the ES features with the Premium Package, the F SPORT Design adds F SPORT 19-in.
The regenerative and hydraulic brake control characteristics of the Electronically Controlled Brake System (ECB) on ES hybrid models have also been optimized to improve pedal feeling when the brake pedal is released. All Lexus interiors are designed to blend a driver-centric cockpit with spacious and comfortable areas for the passengers. This concept was introduced in the LC coupe, refined in the flagship LS sedan and was expanded to the seventh-generation ES. Lexus calls this concept “Seat in Control,” a simple idea that says, from the moment you get in, all the controls you need are within reach and all the information you want is in plain view.

Split-five-spoke alloy wheels with Gloss Black finish and F SPORT exterior styling, including unique front bumper, grille surround and rear spoiler. Available features include, a Mark Levinson sound system, Lexus Interface with the 12.3-inch screen, a Head-Up-display, power rear sunshade, the panorama roof, triple beam LED headlamps and power open/close trunk with kick sensor on F SPORT Design. Standard features include noise-reducing 18-inch alloy wheels, auto-braking with rear pedestrian detection, a Panoramic View 360-degree camera monitor, a foot-activated hands-free power trunk lid, a head-up display, and a power rear sunshade.
This array of driver assistance features comes standard in every new Lexus ES. As well as forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, it includes daytime cyclist detection, pedestrian detection even in low-light conditions, and assistance when turning left at intersections. Enthusiasts will rejoice now that 2023 adds a new F SPORT Handling grade available on ES 350 and ES 300h, further enhancing the driving appearance and sportiness of the Lexus ES.
Also included are wiper de-icers, a wireless charging pad, power-folding and auto-tilt-down side mirrors, and memory for the driver’s seat, mirrors, and power tilt wheel. We take each vehicle we test through the mundane — parking, lane-changing, backing up, cargo space and loading — as well as the essential — acceleration, braking, handling, interior quiet and comfort, build quality, materials quality, reliability. Lexus doesn’t provide torque figures for its hybrids, but the ES 300h’s combination of a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine and two electric motors results in a total of 215 horsepower. Admittedly, there are F Sport packages for both the ES 350 and ES 300h models — adding things like sport front seats, extra aerodynamic parts, and the option of an adaptive suspension. But the 2023 ES luxury sedan tends to excel in a different direction, where comfort and tranquility are prioritized. Lexus Interface incorporates a Voice Assistant available through voice activation or accessible via a button on the steering wheel.
The new mesh pattern emphasizes the vehicle’s elegant design with a series of concentric “L” shapes that radiate from the front Lexus emblem, all finished in a new Graphite paint. This new grille design offers a refreshed look, while still preserving ES’s provocative elegance. Tying the frontend design together are redesigned standard bi-LED headlamps with dynamic auto-leveling. The F Sport Handling package now comes with Sport+ and Custom driving modes, plus an adaptive suspension, rear parking sensors, and a heated steering wheel. Drive Connect trial or subscription, drivers and passengers have access to Cloud Navigation, Destination Assist and the Intelligent Assistant features. The Cloud Navigation offered through Drive Connect allows for real-time traffic and routing information and Points of Interest (POI).
The 2022 ES continues the brand’s commitment to safety with an upgrade to Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 (LSS+ 2.5) as standard equipment on all trim levels. Already one of the most sophisticated systems of its kind, LSS+ 2.5 adds new capabilities over LSS+ 2.0 that help provide additional safety to the driver and passengers. The ES 350 Luxury includes the same features as the ES 250 Luxury, minus the all-wheel drive and with the upgraded V6 engine and available Panorama glass roof. Options beyond those available on the base ES 250 include noise-reducing 18-inch alloy wheels and a Panoramic View 360-degree camera monitor.
The 2022 ES builds on the strides made with Lexus Driving Signature on IS and IS 500 with additional performance updates, including a new rear suspension member brace to further enhance torsional rigidity, handling stability, and ride comfort. The brake pedal shape has been enlarged on all ES models to improve foot stability and confidence when the pedal is depressed. On ES gas models, the vacuum brake system master cylinder and booster have been optimized to provide a more linear brake pedal feeling and response.
